What We Fix

RV awning repair done right, at your site.

RV awnings take a beating in Florida. Between the sun, the wind, and the afternoon storms, fabric wears out, arms bend, and electric motors quit. We see these problems constantly in Port St. Lucie, FL and across St. Lucie County. Here's what we fix and what it typically costs. All prices are estimates and can vary based on awning size, brand, and parts availability.

Awning Fabric Replacement

Vinyl and acrylic fabric replacement for Dometic and Carefree awnings. We measure your existing awning, order the correct replacement, and come back to install it. Sun-rotted fabric is the number one awning issue we see on the Treasure Coast. Don't wait until it tears completely.

$250-600 - 2-4 hours

Electric Awning Motor Repair

Motor replacement, controller board issues, limit switch adjustment. We work on Dometic and Carefree electric motors. If yours hums but won't move, the gearbox might be stripped. We'll check the electrical side first since a blown fuse costs a lot less than a new motor.

$150-350 - 1-2 hours

Manual Awning Spring & Rafter

Broken torsion springs, bent rafters, loose rivets. Manual awnings take more abuse than electric ones because people yank on them harder than they should. We've re-tensioned and replaced hundreds of these springs. If yours won't hold tension anymore, it's a quick fix.

$120-280 - 1-2 hours

Awning Arm Repair & Replacement

Bent arms from wind damage, broken pivot points, arm slider replacement. A gust of wind can bend an arm in seconds. Sometimes we can straighten it, sometimes it needs a new one. We carry common Dometic and Carefree arm assemblies and can usually get this done in one visit.

$100-300 - 1-2 hours

Roller Tube Repair

Bent or dented roller tubes, end cap replacement, tube alignment. The roller tube is the backbone of the awning, and once it's bent the fabric won't roll up evenly. We can sometimes straighten minor bends on-site, but a badly dented tube needs replacing.

$120-250 - 1-2 hours

Awning Rail & Mounting

Loose wall mounting rail, failing screws, sealant around mounting points. The rail where the awning attaches to the RV wall can work loose over time, especially on older rigs with a lot of road vibration. We re-secure, re-seal, and replace stripped screws before water gets behind the wall.

$80-200 - 45-90 min

LED Awning Light Installation

LED strip lights under the awning, wiring to your existing 12V system, dimmer switches. This is one of our most popular add-ons. Good lighting under the awning makes a huge difference for evening hangouts. We run clean wiring so there's no exposed tape or loose connections. Pair this with an RV electrical check if your 12V system hasn't been looked at in a while.

$60-150 - 30-60 min

Full Awning Replacement

Remove old hardware, install new complete awning assembly. We work with Dometic, Carefree, and Solera units. If the fabric, roller tube, and arms are all shot, a full replacement is the way to go. We'll measure everything, order the right unit, and schedule the install. This one takes most of a day, but you'll have a brand new awning that works like it should.

$500-1,500+ - 3-6 hours
Warning Signs

5 signs your RV awning needs attention.

01

Fabric is torn, frayed, or won't retract cleanly

Sun damage and UV exposure eat through awning fabric, especially vinyl that's been in Florida for a few years. If you see fraying edges or the fabric bunches up when retracting, it's time. A torn section only gets worse with wind.

02

Electric awning hums but won't extend or retract

The motor is getting power but can't move the roller. This usually means a stripped gearbox, a seized bearing, or a limit switch problem. Don't keep hitting the button - you can burn out a motor that might just need a simple adjustment.

03

Awning sags in the middle when extended

A sagging awning means the torsion spring has lost tension or the roller tube is starting to bend. Water pools in the sag, which makes it worse. Eventually the weight of pooled rainwater can collapse the whole thing. Fix it before a Florida afternoon thunderstorm does the damage for you.

04

Arms are bent or won't lock in position

Wind is the biggest enemy of awning arms. One strong gust catches the fabric like a sail and bends an arm before you can retract it. If the arms won't lock open or have a visible bow, they need straightening or replacing before you extend the awning again.

05

Water pools on the awning instead of running off

A properly tensioned awning sheds water to one side. If you're seeing pools form, the spring tension is low, the arms aren't level, or the fabric has stretched. Standing water adds pounds fast and can rip the whole awning off the wall.

How It Works

Three steps. Done at your campsite.

1

Call or Request a Quote

Call 772-276-6465 or submit an estimate request online. Tell us what's going on with the awning - torn fabric, motor not working, bent arms after a storm. We'll give you a time window, usually same or next day for most of the Port St. Lucie and Treasure Coast area.

2

We Inspect On-Site

Our tech shows up and inspects the full awning assembly - fabric condition, arm alignment, roller tube straightness, mounting rail integrity, and the motor if it's electric. You get a written estimate before we start any work. If fabric or a specific part needs to be ordered, we'll tell you upfront so there's no guesswork.

3

Repaired or Replaced

Most awning repairs finish in 1-3 hours. Fabric replacements take 2-4 hours depending on size. We work on Dometic, Carefree, and Solera awnings and carry common hardware, springs, and arm assemblies on the truck. If it's a simple fix, it's done that day. Fabric orders typically arrive in 3-5 business days.

Electric awning motor died. They had a replacement Dometic motor and installed it at our campsite in about 90 minutes. Works perfectly and they sealed the mounting points while they were at it.

Awning fabric was shredded after a storm. They measured everything, ordered the right Carefree replacement, and came back to install it. Looks brand new and the price was fair for the amount of work.

FAQ

RV awning questions we get all the time.

How much does RV awning repair cost in Port St. Lucie?

RV awning repair in Port St. Lucie typically runs $60-600 for most repairs. Fabric replacement costs $250-600 depending on awning size and material type. Electric motor replacement runs $150-350. Arm repairs are $100-300. A full awning replacement with new hardware runs $500-1,500+ depending on size and brand. We always give you a written estimate before starting - no surprises on the bill.

Can you replace RV awning fabric on-site?

Yes. We measure your existing awning, order the correct replacement fabric from Dometic or Carefree of Colorado, and come back to install it at your location. The install itself takes 2-4 hours depending on awning length. We do vinyl and acrylic fabrics. You don't need to take the RV anywhere - we handle everything on-site.

Why won't my electric RV awning extend?

An electric awning that won't extend usually points to a failed motor, a blown fuse, a bad controller board, or a limit switch that's out of adjustment. If the motor hums but nothing moves, the gearbox might be stripped. We check the electrical side first since a fuse or relay fix costs a lot less than a motor swap. We carry common Dometic and Carefree motor assemblies on the truck.

How long does it take to replace an RV awning?

A full awning replacement takes 3-6 hours depending on the size and whether we're going from manual to electric or keeping the same type. Fabric-only replacements run 2-4 hours. Arm repairs and motor swaps usually finish in 1-2 hours. We schedule enough time so we're not rushing - a sloppy install causes problems down the road and we'd rather do it once.

Should I repair or replace my RV awning?

If the roller tube is straight, the arms are solid, and the hardware is in good shape, a fabric replacement is almost always the better call. You save $300-800 compared to a full unit. But if the tube is bent, the arms are cracked, and the mounting rail is pulling loose, you're better off with a complete replacement. We'll give you an honest assessment - we don't push full replacements when a repair makes more sense.

What brands of RV awnings do you work on?

We work on Dometic, Carefree of Colorado, and Solera awnings, which covers the vast majority of RVs on the road today. Manual and electric models. Most travel trailers, fifth wheels, and motorhomes from the last 20 years use one of these three brands. We stock common replacement parts for all of them.

Can wind damage be repaired or does the whole awning need replacing?

Depends on how bad it is. A single bent arm can be straightened or replaced for $100-300. Torn fabric is a $250-600 fix. But if the wind bent the roller tube and ripped both arms out of the mounting rail, you're looking at a full replacement. We see a lot of wind damage on the Treasure Coast, especially during summer storm season. We'll tell you exactly what's salvageable and what's not.

Do you install awning accessories like LED lights and wind sensors?

Yes. LED strip lights under the awning are one of our most popular add-ons, running $60-150 depending on length and whether you want a dimmer switch. We wire them into your existing 12V system. Wind sensors are available too, though most newer electric awnings from Dometic already have them built in. We can add aftermarket sensors to older units that didn't come with one.
